MARSHALL, Texas – Senior Shelby Bartley finished with a team-high nine kills, however, Wiley College defeated University of the Southwest 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 27-25, 25-21) in the Red River Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
 
Junior Hannah Massey added eight kills and two blocks and finished with a team-best .238 hitting percentage.
 
Senior Ashley Preuss added five kills, three digs and a block. Fellow senior Karina Grajeda also added five kills to go with nine digs.
 
Junior Corina Madrid contributed five kills, nine digs and three service aces. Junior Miranda Tapia finished with 16 assists and seven digs.
 
USW (3-8, 0-1 RRAC) returns to action Saturday for a noon tilt against St. Thomas.
