Hobbs, NM, October 6, 2018- In a battle for top spot, the USW men's soccer team came from behind to tie 1-1 against the University of Houston-Victoria.

The Mustangs came into the game seated in second place behind UHV in the Red River Athletic Conference and needed a win to move to top spot.

Antonio Menendez latched onto a high ball inside the box to finish off in the far left corner of the UHV goal. Early in the second half, USW goal keeper, Juan Arias saved a penalty kick to deny UHV from extending their lead.

With the tie, the Mustangs improved to a 3-1-1 record in conference league play and they will be on the road this week at Our Lady of the Lake University on October 11 and Huston Tillotson on October 13.
