ALPINE, Texas – Sul Ross State defeated University of the Southwest softball 9-1 and 3-1 Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
 
In game one Gabby Heckman batted 1-for-1 with an RBI. Brianna Gonzalez also went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
Madison Garcia was tagged with the loss. She threw five innings and allowed 12 hits, nine runs (seven earned) and walked one batter.
 
In game two MyKaya Olivas absorbed the loss. She tossed four innings and scattered four hits and allowed three runs and no walks and struck out a batter.
 
Lynette Nicolao batted 2-for-3, while Adrianna Silva went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
USW returns to action February 27 at University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
