HOBBS, N.M.  – University of the Southwest baseball looks to continue its recent hot streak with a four-game Red River Athletic Conference series set to take place with Texas College, beginning Friday with a noon doubleheader at The Jake.

The Mustangs enter the series with a 12-7 overall record and a 2-1 mark in conference play. Last weekend USW won 2-out-of-3 against RRAC opponent Jarvis Christian. USW dominated nearly the entire series and held the Bulldogs to 20-conseuctive scoreless innings.

USW has won 10 out of its past 12 games.

Offensively,
Ean Smith has been a focal point for the Mustangs. He leads the team with a .340 batting average to go along with a team-high 19 runs batted in.

Pitchers
Axel Arrieta and
JJ Kruzel have been a dominant one-two punch for USW.
Â
Arrieta sports a 3-0 record to go with a 3.41 earned run average. The senior also leads the team with 35 strikeouts.

Kruzel has been dominant and is 3-0 with one save. The Lil Elm, Texas native also has a 3.38 ERA. The freshman is coming off a dominant effort against Jarvis Christian. He tossed a complete-game shutout and fanned seven batters and the effort garnered RRAC Pitcher of the Week honors.
