SHREVEPORT, La. - University of the Southwest baseball continued the season with a conference game Thursday evening against Louisiana State University-Shreveport. The Mustangs came up short and were defeated 6-3.
On the bump for USW was senior Aaron Higgins. The Hobbs, New Mexico native pitched through six innings, allowed nine hits and six runs, and walking five batters, and struck out seven.
Sophomore Josiah Acton relieved Higgins in the seventh inning, while freshman Orlan Warren closed the came for the Mustangs.
Sophomore CJ Aviles went 1-for-2 and scored a pair of runs, while senior Josh Reyes went 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Senior Kenny Corona and junior Ben Tingen each went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
The Mustangs complete the series with a double-header Friday morning.
