HOBBS, N.M. – University of the Southwest softball swept Langston 11-1 and 4-1 Friday afternoon to open a four-game Red River Athletic Conference series.
USW improved to 10-15 overall and 7-7 in conference play. The Mustangs currently sit in the sixth and final spot of the RRAC tournament standings.
Game one was called in the fifth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Adrianna Silva batted 1-for-3 with three RBI and scored a run. Fellow senior
Randee Garcia batted 1-for-1 and batted in a pair of runs. Senior
Brianna Gonzalez batted 1-for-3 with an RBI, while fellow senior
Alexis York finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and scored a run.

Junior Gabrielle Heckmann earned the win in the circle. The Cannon Falls, Minnesota native tossed a complete game and scattered seven hits, allowed one run and one walk.
In game two freshman
MyKaya Olivas tossed a complete-game. The Roswell, New Mexico native scattered seven hits and allowed one run and no walks and fanned seven batters.
York batted 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored a run.
Saturday the Mustangs will honor their senior class and there will be a special presentation for USW head coach
Ron Landschoot who will be coaching his final home game as he heads into retirement at the conclusion of the 2018 season. The presentation begins at 10:30 a.m.
