HOBBS, N.M. – University of the Southwest softball completed a four-game series sweep over Langston by scores of 11-6 and 8-0 on Senior Day at Baker Field. It was also the final home series for revered head softball coach
Ron Landschoot. The veteran coach announced his retirement this past week. Landschoot, a Rochester, New York native founded the USW softball program in 2004.
The Mustangs improved to 12-15 overall and 8-7 in Red River Athletic Conference play. USW moves into a tie with Houston-Victoria for fourth place in the conference standings.
In game one the Mustangs busted out to an 8-0 lead.
Senior
Lynette Nikolao batted 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and scored two runs. She also recorded a pair of stolen bases. Senior
Adrianna Silva went 1-for-3 with an RBI and scored two runs. Sophomore

Chelsea Carroll and senior
Randee Garcia each added an RBI.
Senior
Madison Garcia earned the win in the circle. The Midland, Texas product tossed a complete game and scattered eight hits and allowed six runs (four earned) and one walk and fanned a batter.
In game two USW used a six-run second inning to seize control.
Silva batted 2-for-2 with a solo home run. Sophomore
Unique Stock went 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Freshman
MyKaya Olivas tossed a complete game. The Roswell, New Mexico native scattered three hits and allowed one walk and fanned four batters.
USW returns to action and next week at Houston-Victoria.
