SAN ANTONIO, TX---The Lady Mustang's season came up just one victory short of a spot in the Tournament final. USW came into the 2019 RRAC Tournament as the 4th seeded team in the conference after a 7-5 record in conference. USW opened up in the quarterfinal match of the tournament. The Lady Mustangs withstood a surging Jarvis Christian program that forced the match to a 5th and final set to determine the winner. The Lady Mustangs would win the match, putting them into the semi-finals against the #1 seeded Huston-Tillotson Rams. USW fought hard, but were unable to overcome the Lady Rams and fell in straight sets.
The loss ends the season for the 2019 Lady Mustangs and the 1st for Head Coach
Katrina English here at USW. English understands the youth in her program, but is excited for the future after so much growth this year. "The USW Lady Mustang Volleyball program can only be defined as a season in which seeds were planted. The growth from those seeds these last three months was amazing and soon will be a fully flourished garden that will illuminate the Conference. The strongest of the seeds survived and in October they stuck their chest out and earned much respect. The Conference Tournament is a privilege and we are glad we earned our appearance; however, our youth of championship team dynamics hit us hard during crucial opportunities. Where there is an ounce of doubt or fear, the strength of team dynamics are weakened. However in every loss is a lesson and in the spring we will water the soil to strengthen the cracks. I am proud of ALL of my players and that is unconditional. We are family and that's a hard bond to break" said Head Coach
Katrina English.
