Hobbs, NM - The Lady Mustangs hosted two double headers last week. On Thursday they played Western Texas College under the lights and then turned around to play Lubbock Christian Friday morning. Against Western Texas College they battled both games, but would eventually lose two 1 run games 2-1 and 8-7. On Friday it was a different story as Lubbock Christian's bats caught on fire and the Lady Mustangs had no response as they would fall 15-0 and 8-0.
Game 1 vs Western Texas College
On Thursday The Lady Mustangs would host a late night double-header under the lights. In game 1 the Lady Mustangs could not get anything going offensively. Western Texas College jumped out to a 1-0 lead right away in the 1st inning, but the Lady Mustangs could respond. They found some life in the 7th inning down 2-0, but 1 run was all they could generate and they would go on to lose 2-1.
Gabby Heckmann pitched a solid 7.0 inning giving up 7 hits and only 1 earned run.
Adrianna Horton had a solid day at the plate as she went 2-3.
Game 2
The Lady Mustangs came to hit in game 2. After a quick 1,2,3 top of the 1st, the Lady Mustangs responded with a run in the bottom half on an inside the park homerun by Senior
Chelsea Carroll. West Texas answered with a run of their own in the 3rd, but the Lady Mustangs responded with 3 more in the bottom half. The last 3 inning proved to be a back and forth battle between both teams. At the end of the 5th inning, West Texas would take a 6-5 lead thanks to a 5 run 5th. The Lady Mustangs would take the lead back on a 2-out 2-run triple by Senior

Brittny Hernandez and
Sarena Maynez. After an exciting 6th inning the Lady Mustangs would give up 2 runs in the top of the 7th and go on to lose 8-7. The Lady Mustangs had three players with 2 or more hits in the game.
Gabby Heckmann (2-4, 1 RBI), Carroll (3-4, 3 RBIs, HR), and Matthys (3-4, 2 RBIs, 2B, 3B).
Game 1 vs Lubbock Christian
On Friday the Lady Mustangs hosted Division II Lubbock Christian. Lubbock Christian came to play Friday as they put up 15 runs in 5 innings. The Lady Mustangs could not generate anything on offense. Lubbock Christian's pitcher, Taylor Franco, would go on to throw a no-hitter as the the Lady Mustangs fall 15-0 in 5 innings.
Game 2
In the finale of the double-header the Lady Mustangs once again could not generate anything on offense. Sophomore
Adrianna Horton would be the bright spot of the offense as she went 2-2 in the game. The Lady Mustangs would fall 8-0.
Next Up
The Lady Mustangs have their first road trip of the year this weekend. They travel to Texarkana, Texas for the conference opener against Texas A&M Texarkana. They have a double-header on Friday at 1PM and 3PM (MT) followed by the series finale on Saturday at 10 AM (MT).
