Farmers Branch, TX- After multiple weather delays, the Lady Mustangs finally faced Texas A&M-Texarkana in their final road series of the season. The two teams decided to meet halfway in Farmers Branch, TX to face off. The Lady Mustangs could not keep the hard hitting offense that Texarkana posses under control and would drop the series 3-0.
GAME 1 (TAMU 7 - USW 3)
Day 1 of the series presented a strong wind blowing straight out of the outfield. Texarkana got on the board first in the bottom half of the first inning with a lead off walk followed by a double off the center field wall.
Gabby Heckmann would then get out of the inning with minimal damage. It wouldn't take long for the Lady Mustangs to respond. With one out in the top of the 2nd,
Chelsea Carroll would drive a ball to deep center field to tie things up 1-1. The Lady Mustangs looked to find their groove as they would take the lead in the top of the 3rd inning. With one out, he Lady Mustangs would get back-to-back single by
Kenzie Savell and
Madylin Matthys before Carroll would come up big again with a single to center field scoring both Savell and Matthys. Now leading 3-1, the Lady Mustangs looked to have taken control of the game. In the bottom half of the 3rd, Texarkana used a two-out rally and a few errant throws to score 3 runs and take a 4-3 lead. Texarkana would go on to score one run in each of the next 3 innings and win 7-3. The Lady Mustangs threatened multiple times throughout the game with the biggest threat coming in the 6th inning. With bases loaded and two outs,
Sarena Maynez was robbed of a grand slam in the right-center gap.
Chelsea Carroll shined as she went 2-3 with 3 RBIs. Matthys and
Madison Rosenthal each added 2 hits.
GAME 2 (TAMU 16 - USW 7) [ 6 innings]
Texarkana's offense came out storming in game 2. They busted out 20 hits as the Lady Mustangs struggled to find a way to slow them down. With the wind blowing straight out, they took advantage as they launched 3 homeruns and jumped out to a 12-0 lead by the 3rd inning. The Lady Mustangs would get 1 run back in the 4th inning before having a breakout 5th inning where they plated 6 runs.
Sarena Maynez lead off the inning with a solo shot to center field.
Kenzie Savell would follow with a walk, then a base hit by
Madylin Matthys would put runner at first and second.
Chelsea Carroll came up next and reached on an error by the third baseman, scoring Savell. Back-to-back-to-back doubles by
Monika Madrid,
Gabby Heckmann and
Madison Rosenthal would plate 4 more runs for the Lady Mustangs. They looked to be working their way back into the game trailing 12-7 after 5 innings. The Lady Mustangs couldn't stop Texarkana as they would plate 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to implant the run rule and win 16-7.
Maynez, Matthys and Madrid all contributed 2 hits in the game. The Lady Mustangs flashed a little power in this game as 4 of their 8 hits were extra-base hits.
GAME 3 (TAMU 12 - USW 0) [5 innings]
After an explosive offensive production the day before, the Lady Mustangs could not do anything at the plate in this game. Texarkana had a perfect game going until the 4th inning when
Madylin Matthys doubled to left field. That would be the lone hit for the Lady Mustangs as Texarkana would score 12 runs in 4 innings to take the game 12-0.

The Lady Mustangs wrap up their season this weekend at home against Jarvis Christian. Friday's games will start at 12 with game 2 right after. The Lady Mustangs will celebrate senior day on Saturday before their 12 o'clock game. Senior day festivities will start at approximately 11:30.
