HOBBS, NM---The Softball program hosted Southwestern Assembly of the Gods (SAGU) over the weekend and lost the series 3-1. USW won the final game of the series 4-3. After the series, the Lady Mustangs record is 2-20 on the season and snapped a 17-game losing streak.
In Game 4 of the series, USW jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Despite allowing 2 runs to tie up the game in the top of the 3rd, the Mustangs would rally for a run in the bottom of the 6th to secure the victory. The Lady Mustangs had 3 with 2 hits in the game as
Michaela Trevino, Mikayla Martinez and
Hannah Slaight each had 2 hits in the game.
Lauren Paredes earned the victory on the mound as the freshman threw a complete game allowing 11 hits, 2 earned runs and struck out 3 batters.
USW hosts NCAA Division 2 UT-Permian Basin on Wednesday afternoon starting at 1:00 PM MST.
