SAN ANTONIO, TX---The Lady Mustangs took on Our Lady of the Lake on Friday night and Saturday afternoon in a pair of RRAC matchups. OLLU swept both matches 3-0 and left USW's record in conference at 2-2.
"Game 1 was a rough night, but we had some good moments. We just didn't play the game to our normal potential. Game 2, our play got much better, but we just didn't capitalize at crucial moments when we should have. OLLU was ready to play from the first point of the Game 1 to the last point of Game 2. We didn't show up like we know we should have and it's on us to work out the kinks better in practice and apply it to the game" said Head Coach
Julia Krebs.
The Lady Mustangs were led by senior Dylann Bylud in Game 1. Bylund recorded 8 kills on 17 attempts and also added on 1 dig in the match.
Sarah Marquez assisted on 10 kills and
Autumn Lopez led the team in digs with 9 for the match.
Taylor Hardison did a great job on the net as she recorded 3 solo blocks in the match.
Sophomore
Alexia Esparza was the high-lady in Game 2 with 6 kills on 20 attempts.
Taylor Hardison once again added 3 solo blocks and
Sarah Marquez had 19 total assists.
USW will play Jarvis and OLLU once more in conference play, along with 4 other non-conference matchups before the RRAC tournament. Coach Krebs and company are wanting to finish out the final few weeks of the season on a high-note and take some momentum into their 2021 fall season. "We want a solid foundation. We want this young group to have confidence whether we are ahead in the game or under pressure. It takes time and experience but we are on the right path for the fall." said Krebs.
