FORT WORTH, TX---Coming off a 13-run performance on Saturday afternoon against Jarvis Christian, the Mustang offense kept their bats hot on Tuesday afternoon as they took on Sooner Athletic Conference opponent Texas Wesleyan. USW defeated Texas Wesleyan 15-10. The victory pushes the Mustangs record to 11-17 on the year. 

"I thought the guys competed well today. you never know how a midweek game is going to go and our guys competed all day against a very good Texas Wesleyan team. Their top of the lineup is very dangerous and we found a way to contain them just enough. Hats off to our hitters today though. They absolutely played well defensively and put up some great at-bats today. Hopefully we can take some of this momentum into a crucial conference conference match-up this weekend. It will be a battle all weekend long." said Head Coach Steve Appel. 

USW used 9 different pitchers today to complete the 9-inning victory. Jonathan Gamboa started his first career collegiate game and lasted 2 innings allowing only 1 hit. Jacob Chavarria and Hunter McLarry each threw scoreless innings in the contest. 

The story of the day was a pair of big innings for the Mustangs. USW scored 6 runs in the top of the 5th and 8 in the top of the 9th. Dair Ornelas and Tariq Levesque each launched home runs in the top of the 9th. The home run by Ornelas was the very first of his career. Levesque finished with 4 hits in the game and drove in 3 runs. Kevin Rase was 4-5 with a pair of RBIs.
