SB: USW drops series to TAMU-San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, TX--The Lady Mustang Softball program took on new RRAC member Texas A&M-San Antonio in a 3-game conference series on Monday and Tuesday this week. The two programs split the first two games, but TAMUSA would win the 3rd game of the series on Tuesday afternoon. USW's record sits at 2-11 on the season.

"The series against TAMUSA was a good push for us moving forward Our pitchers gave us a fighting chance in all three games, pulling out a win in game 2. But we just couldn't pull everything together that we needed defensively to keep them from crossing home plate. We put the ball in play a lot, had some solid contact, but at times their defense made some good plays to end some innings. Overall I am proud of the fight from the team. We learned a lot as a group of what we are capable of and what we need to stay consistent in our future games." said Head Coach Chris Petroski.

GAME 1
TAMUSA 7---USW 2

Despite outhitting the Lady Jaguars with 9 hits, USW was only able to push across two runs in the game. Michaela Trevino was 2-4 and Alyssa Martinez was 2-2 with an RBI.

The two teams were tied heading to the bottom of the 6th, when TAMUSA would score 5 runs to seal the victory.

GAME 2
USW 4---TAMUSA 2

The Lady Mustangs used some late inning magic of their own to secure their first conference victory of the season in Game 2. Aubrey Ramos scored 2 runs for USW and Madison Ganaway and Brittney McCorry-White each had an RBI in the contest.

Madison Ganaway got the start in the circle and threw a great game. The Hobbs native threw 7 innings allowing 7 hits and only 2 runs.

GAME 3
TAMUSA 9---USW 8

The final game of the series had an explosive 4th inning for both teams as they combined for 11 runs in the inning.

Amanda Perez had a game-high 3 hits on the afternoon and drove home 3 runs. Perez and Mikayla Martinez also had home runs in the game.
