PINEVILLE, LA---The Lady Mustang Softball program concluded their 2021 season at the RRAC Softball Tournament in Pineville, LA over the weekend. USW finished 3-29 overall on the season and qualified for the tournament for the first time since 2018.
"Overall I am very pleased with our spring season. It was a battle from the beginning with the unknowns of even being able to play. The team really came together and worked as a family. I knew what we were capable of and when it finally clicked with the girls, we had our opponents keeping an eye on us" said Head Coach
Chris Petroski. "The ladies pushes themselves mentally and physically this year. We had some team mottos of trust the process, family first and believe. These took us and made us grow together. The Mustang Softball program has a bright future ahead".
USW lost Game 1 of the tournament to Our Lady of the Lake by the score of 2-0. OLLU capitalized on a 2-run home run in the first inning and held onto the lead the rest of the game. Starting pitcher
Sierra Flores allowed 7 hits while striking out 1 in the game.
USW faced off with eventual tournament champion UHV in Round 2 in an elimination game. Both teams were knotted up at 3-3 in the top of the 7th inning before UHV erputed for 16 runs in the top of the 7th to put the game out of reach and end the Lady Mustang's season.
