Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Jonathan Gamboa

Lady Musangs fall short Thursday afternoon

Southwest fell short in a 2-1 loss against Our Lady of the Lake, despite a spirited effort in the match. The game got off to a rocky start for Southwest as Our Lady of the Lake's Leah Tapia scored twice within the first seven minutes, leaving Southwest chasing from early on.

Southwest showed resilience and began pushing back, with standout performances from Rylee Thatcher and Elizabeth Rico. Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when Anita Nicole, assisted by Rozlynn Ramsey, netted a goal to bring the score to 2-1. However, despite several attempts, including shots from Brooke and Rylee Thatcher, they couldn't find an equalizer in the second half.

Goalkeeper Kristina Simpson played a critical role in keeping Southwest within striking distance, making six key saves throughout the match, but ultimately, it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.

The loss brings Southwest's record to 3-4-1, with the team looking to bounce back after this close contest. Despite the defeat, the effort and determination shown by Southwest reflect a team capable of challenging anyone when at their best. They'll aim to sharpen their attack and come back stronger in their next match.
