HOBBS, N.M. -- The University of the Southwest men's soccer team hits the road this week for a pair of Red River Athletic Conference matchups, taking on North American University on Thursday, followed by Texas A&M University-Victoria on Saturday.
The Mustangs enter the road swing after a competitive home stand against Louisiana Christian and LSU-Shreveport. Southwest battled to a 2-2 draw against LCU, but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to LSU-Shreveport. With those results, the Mustangs hold an overall record of 1-4-2 and are 0-2-1 in RRAC play.
North American comes into Thursday's match following a narrow 2-1 loss to Jarvis Christian, but maintains a solid conference record of 2-2-1. Meanwhile, Texas A&M-Victoria heads into Saturday's contest after a 3-1 defeat to Texas A&M-Texarkana and a 1-1 draw with Jarvis Christian. The Jaguars currently sit at 5-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play.
Historically, Southwest has struggled against both opponents, but last season the Mustangs earned a 2-2 draw against North American, which they will look to build on this year.
Following the road trip, Southwest returns home for a five-match stretch, beginning with a non-conference showdown against Wayland Baptist on Tuesday, October 14. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
