Southwest Softball Falls Short in Conference Series Against Texas A&M-San Antonio

Southwest softball traveled to San Antonio, Texas, for a two-game conference series against Texas A&M-San Antonio on February 23, 2025. Despite putting up a fight in game 2, Southwest came up short in both matchups.


Game 1: Texas A&M-San Antonio 8, Southwest 0 (5 Innings)

Texas A&M-San Antonio dominated the first game, shutting out Southwest 8-0 in a shortened five-inning contest. The home team put together a steady offensive attack, scoring in each of the first four innings while limiting Southwest to just four hits.

  • Southwest's offense struggled, managing only a double from A. Nettles and three other singles.
  • Defensive miscues proved costly, as Southwest committed four errors.
  • Texas A&M's pitching staff controlled the game, not allowing any runs while striking out three.
  • Pitcher A. Belen took the loss, surrendering eight hits and seven earned runs over four innings.

Game 2: Texas A&M-San Antonio 5, Southwest 3

Southwest put up a stronger fight in game two, but Texas A&M-San Antonio held on for a 5-3 victory to complete the series sweep. The visiting team jumped out to an early lead, scoring in each of the first three innings. However, Texas A&M responded with a three-run second inning and tacked on two more in the fifth to seal the win.

  • Southwest totaled nine hits, led by K. Raulston, who had a triple and scored twice.
  • L. Stouder delivered a clutch double and drove in two runs.
  • R. Ashford and T. Parham combined in the circle, allowing five earned runs and striking out three over six innings.
  • Southwest's defensive struggles continued, committing two more errors.
