The Southwest Lady Mustangs were held scoreless in both games of a tough Sunday doubleheader against conference rival Our Lady of the Lake, falling 9-0 in Game 1 and 8-0 in Game 2.
Game 1: Our Lady of the Lake 9, Southwest 0 (6 Innings)
The Saints came out swinging, plating runs in each of the first five innings before capping off the game with a two-run sixth to invoke the run rule. Southwest struggled to get the bats going, collecting just four hits in the game.
Despite a double-digit hit total for OLLU, Southwest's defense committed no errors and showed flashes of solid glove work. Au. Ramos went 1-for-3 with a stolen base, and L. Stouder also recorded a hit. A. Belen took the loss in the circle, allowing nine runs (six earned) over four innings.
Game 2: Our Lady of the Lake 8, Southwest 0 (5 Innings)
In the second game, the Mustangs were no-hit in a five-inning shutout. The Saints jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and didn't look back. K. Salas led the charge for OLLU, going 2-for-3 with a double, home run, and four RBIs.
Southwest's best chance to break the no-hitter came in the second inning, when R. Burleson was hit by a pitch and Au. Ramos drew a walk to put two runners on, but they were left stranded. R. Ashford started the game for the Mustangs and pitched all five innings, giving up 10 hits and eight runs (seven earned).
