Lady Mustangs Concludes Four-Game Series at OLLU with Saturday Doubleheader

SAN ANTONIO, Texas —  The University of the Southwest closed out its four‑game road series at Our Lady of the Lake University on Saturday, completing a two‑day doubleheader slate. The Lady Mustangs dropped both contests on the final day of play after falling in two games on Friday.

In Saturday's opener, Southwest fell 14–0 in five innings. Our Lady of the Lake jumped out to a 4–0 lead in the first inning and added another run in the second before posting nine runs in the fourth. Kilee Raulston and Kamryn Cantu recorded the Mustangs' two hits in the game, including a single from Raulston up the middle in the third. Starter Jazmynn Hernandez worked the first three innings before Alexis Belen took over in the circle.

Southwest showed more offensive movement in the series finale but ultimately fell 9–1. After OLLU took an early 5–0 lead across the first two innings, the Mustangs responded in the fourth when Andrea Contreras singled and later scored on an RBI double by Hannah Campos, cutting the deficit to 5–1. Campos finished with Southwest's only RBI of the game. Starter Cali Saldana delivered 5.0 innings before Sophia Jiminez entered in relief. OLLU added four runs in the sixth to extend its lead.

Across the two‑day, four‑game series, Southwest produced several offensive highlights, including a multi‑hit day earlier in the weekend from Campos and a strong four‑run inning during Friday's second game of the series. Despite the results, the Mustangs generated competitive stretches on the mound, producing multiple scoreless innings throughout the weekend.

Southwest now turns its focus to returning home for a non-conference matchup against El Paso Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

Head Coach Chris Petroski
"We faced two of the toughest teams in the conference these past two weeks. There is a lot to work on in the upcoming week and a half before playing at home in March. A page needs to be turned for our sticks and get runs across the plate."
