Sam Moreno finished his playing career in the Spring of 2018 and is continuing his pursuit of his MBA. Moreno, a San Antonio, TX native, started his playing career at Oklahoma Panhandle State in 2013-14 during Coach Appel's last season at OPSU. Moreno played 1 more season at OPSU in 2014-2015, and then decided to transfer to USW in the fall of 2015 to come play for Coach Appel. At USW, Moreno appeared in 79 games with 73 of those being starts at either 2B or DH. Sam was a career .291% hitter and fielded at a .945% clip.

Moreno will be responsible for instructing infielders and assisting in the Mustang offensive game. Along with his baseball duties, Moreno will also be in charge of the program's strength & conditioning program and the Mustangs community service programs around Hobbs.
