Coach Eddy Martinez enters his first season with the Mustangs in 2022-2023. Before coming to USW he spent 10 years with the Hobbs Eagles basketball program including a state championship in 2015. He began his coaching career at Houston Middle School (Hobbs, NM) from 2012-2014. He then became the junior varsity coach at Hobbs High School from 2014-2020. The last 2 seasons 2020-2022 he spent as the varsity assistant coach for the Hobbs Eagles.Â
Martinez was a member of the inaugural Mustang basketball team (2008-2009) & was a member of the Men's basketball program from 2008-2012. He received the Mustang Award (2009) & the Champions of Character award (2010) during his time with the Mustangs. Martinez graduated from the University of the Southwest in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education. He earned his master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of the Southwest in 2015.Â
He and his wife Dede reside in Hobbs & are the proud parents of two autistic children Enzo (6) & Della (4).?
