Michael Dominguez

Coach Dominguez enters his second season as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach. 

In year one, the Mustangs saw improvements on and off the court. The team finished #1 in Conference & #12 in the Nation for 3FG%, while finishing #3 in Conference & #50 in the Nation for FG%. 

The team also broke a program record for Most 3’s Made in a Single game while also coming in #2 all-time in FG% for a Single Season. Not only did the Mustangs break team records, they also broke some individual records. Tiayana Williams finished the season #1 all-time in 3FG% in a Single Season, shooting 44%. Shanyce Cabrales finished her career as #5 on the list of Most 3’s in a Career. Finally, Harlei Haceesa finished her career as #5 in Career Points, #3 in FG% in a Single Game, and was named to the RRAC 2nd Team All-Conference. 

In year one, the Mustangs made the RRAC playoffs after an 11 year drought and lost in the RRAC quarterfinals to #1 seeded Xavier University 58-48. The team finished the school year with a 3.57 team GPA.

Before his time at USW, Coach Dominguez worked as an assistant coach in West Virginia for NCAA Division II, Alderson Broaddus University. Prior to AB, Coach Dominguez was also an assistant coach in Arizona, working for Ottawa University-Arizona and South Mountain Community College. 

Prior to coaching college basketball, Coach Dominguez was an assistant coach at Ironwood High School in Glendale, AZ while simultaneously working as the Senior Scout for Prep Girls Hoops AZ and starting his own basketball training service, Dominguez Performance Group. 

Dominguez earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Grand Canyon University and is currently working on a Master’s degree in Sports Psychology.
