Jack Laurie converted a penalty kick at with eight minutes remaining in the second half to lift University of the Southwest past LSU-Shreveport 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action at Bob Moran Soccer Field.

It was a physical game that saw 22 total fouls, 10 against the Pilots (11-5, 4-4 RRAC) and 12 were called for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs (7-4-3, 4-2-2) close out the regular season next week at Jarvis Christian and Texas College. Currently, USW is fifth in the RRAC standings and can clinch a spot in the RRAC tournament next week.
