VICTORIA, Texas – Freshman
Trevor Stovall came off the bench and scored a pair of second-half goals as University of the Southwest upended Houston-Victoria 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action.
"With tired legs from Thursday's game (at St. Thomas), today's game was all about having desire and the boys rose to the occasion," USW head coach
Robert Ssejjemba said. "Our substitutions made a tremendous difference coming off the bench. Overall, we are proud of the results this week."
UHV (5-2, 3-1 RRAC) scored the lone goal in the first half and went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
At 68:07 Stovall scored his first goal and 20 minutes later netted his second goal of the contest to secure the win.
Stoball and sophomore
Ioan Muresan recorded a team-high two shots.
UHV narrowly outshot USW by a 13-9 margin.
Junior
Dominic Kutzke made a match-high seven saves.
USW (5-3-2, 2-1-1) returns home for a pair of conference games. The Mustangs host Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday, October 12 and Huston-Tillotson on Saturday, October 14.
