HOBBS. N.M. – Five student-athletes scored in double digits and the University of the Southwest men's basketball team defeated Texas College 84-82 in a thrilling Red River Athletic Conference game Thursday evening at the Maddox Student Life Center.

Marcelious Green hit a key basketball with seven seconds remaining and junior
Ron'Quis Lewis converted a key free throw with four seconds on the clock and the Mustangs (4-7, 2-1 RRAC) defense held off the Steers (4-10, 1-3 RRAC) .

The contest with evenly matched and there were 15 lead changes and the game was tied 15 times.

David Blaylock scored a game-high 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the field. He was also 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. Green, who was recently named RRAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, added 21 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out five assists.

Jim Coleman added 15 points and was 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. Sophomore Emmanuel McNeil came off the bench and scored 13 points and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and 3-for-3 at the charity stripe. Lewis scored 10 points and hauled in seven rebounds.

For the game, USWÂ shot 54 percent (31-for-57) from the field, while TC hit 50 percent (33-for-66) of their shots.

The Mustangs, winners of three of its past four, host St. Thomas – Houston Saturday at the Maddox Student Life Center.
