HOBBS, N.M. – Six student-athletes scored in double digits as University of the Southwest men's basketball defeated Dallas Christian 93-82 Tuesday evening at the Maddox Student Life Center.
USW (5-9) shot a sterling 68 percent (15-for-22) in the first half and went into the break with a 43-40 lead. The Mustangs burst out of the gates in the second half as well and shot 60 percent (20-for-33) and finished the game 33-for-55, good for 63 percent from the field.
Senior
Marcelious Green continued his recent hot streak and scored a game-high 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor. He also grabbed eight rebounds and handed out three assists. Senior
Jim Coleman helped out with 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting. He also hauled in five rebounds and recorded three steals.
Freshman
John Paul Garcia came off the bench and scored 13 points, including hitting three three-pointers. Senior
David Blaylock added 11 points and was 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. Senior
Jeffrey Long scored 10 points and handed out a game-high six assists. Junior
Ron'Quis Lewis added 10 points and grabbed seven boards.
The Mustangs held DCC (7-5) to 37 percent (31-for-82) shooting from the floor.
