ALEXANDRIA, La. – Senior
Marcelious Green scored a game-high 27 points but LSU Alexandria outpaced University of the Southwest 102-80 Saturday evening in Red River Athletic Conference action.
It was a tail of two halves as the Generals (7-2, 2-0 RRAC) outscored the Mustangs 58-37 in the opening stanza. However, USW (3-8, 1-1 RRAC) countered in the second half and LSUA barely outscored the Mustangs 44-43.
Junior
Ron'Quis Lewis added 19 points and was 3-for-6 from beyond the three-point line. Senior
David Blaylock helped out 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
As a team, the Mustangs converted 40 percent (30-of-74) of their shots from the field, while LSUA shot 54 percent (40-of-74) from the floor, including 60 percent (22-of-37) in the first half.
The Mustangs found success on the fast break with 18 points and scored 13 points off LSUA turnovers. USW scored 42 points in the paint and 10 second-chance points.
The Mustangs return to action next weekend and host Texas College and St.Thomas – Houston at the Maddox Student Life Center.
