David Blaylock scored a game-high 29 points and was 17-for-18 at the free throw line and University of the Southwest men's basketball fought past Jarvis Christian 106-95 Saturday evening in Red River Athletic Conference action at the Maddox Student Life Center.

The Mustangs (6-12, 3-5 RRAC) started fast and never allowed the Bulldogs to gain significant momentum. In the first half USW shot a sterling 67 percent (20-for-30) from the floor and went into halftime with a 48-38 lead. In the second half, the Blue and Red shot 48 percent (16-for-33) and finished the game with a 57 percent (36-for-63) field goal percentage.

Ron'Quis Lewis added 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor, while senior
Leroy Cox came off the bench and added 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out three assists.

Jeffrey Long scored 14 points and dished out six assists. The El Paso, Texas product also was 6-for-9 at the free throw line. Senior
Marcelious Green added 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the floor.

Chasten King scored 19 points to lead Jarvis (3-11, 1-6 RRAC).
