Catarina Garcia scored a game-high 24 points, but LSU Alexandria edged University of the Southwest 78-76 Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action at the Maddox Student Life Center.
Sophomore
Mykal Thomas nearly won the game for the Mustangs as time expired, but the shot bounced off the side of the rim.
As a team, the Mustangs shot 40 percent (29-for-71) from the field, while LSUA connected on 52 percent (32-for-61) of its shots from the floor.
Junior
Aaliyah Wheatfall added 15 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Freshman
Jasmine Stansell helped out with 10 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field.
Tamia Hewitt and Katie Lemiuex each scored 20 points to lead the Generals (6-8, 6-5 RRAC).
USW (3-16, 2-9 RRAC) returns to action next Thursday at Texas College.
