HOUSTON, Texas – Junior
Aaliyah Wheatfall scored a team-high 16 points, but St. Thomas – Houston defeated University of the Southwest women's basketball 69-59 Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference action.
As a team USW (3-18, 2-11 RRAC) shot 33 percent from the field, while UST (9-12, 5-8 RRAC) connected on 46 percent of its shots.
Junior
Catarina Garcia played well from her traditional point guard spot and scored 14 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field. She also handed out a pair of assists and recorded two steals.
True freshman
Jasmine Stansell scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds and narrowly missed out on the double-double.
USW won the rebounding advantage by a 45-36 margin.
The Mustangs return to action Thursday and host Huston-Tillotson at 5:30 p.m. at the Maddox Student Life Center.
