HOBBS, N.M. – University of the Southwest softball scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning en route to a 3-1 victory over Texas A&M – Texarkana Wednesday morning in Red River Athletic Conference action at Baker Field.
Neither program found much success on offense, with each team collecting four hits apiece.
True freshman
MyKaya Olivas was dominant in the circle. The Roswell, N.M. product tossed a complete game and allowed one run and two walks and fanned four batters.
Senior
Brianna Gonzalez was effective from the leadoff spot. The El Paso, Texas native batted 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Fellow senior
Randee Garcia went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
All of USW's runs were scored on TAMUT errors.
USW (5-11, 2-4 RRAC) returns to action Tuesday, March 27 with a 2 and 4 p.m. doubleheader versus LSU Alexandria (9-6, 2-0 RRAC) at Baker Field.
