HOBBS, N.M. - University of the Southwest baseball swept Red River Athletic Conference rival Wiley College 9-8 and 11-10 Saturday afternoon at Jake Williams Field.
"I thought are guys competed all weekend. We are extremely banged up right now and after a tough loss in extras in game one it was nice to see our guys rebound take the next three games," USW head coach
Steve Appel said. "I think some guys offensively really had some good at bats. Over the past week we have had to make some minor adjustments and it was nice seeing our middle of the lineup produce some nice numbers. On the mound, our guys just competed. Something we haven't seen the last couple of weeks. They didn't let the little things get to them like previously. Now it's time to get healthy and work our butts off this week. We need to focus on continuing to get better and I'm confident we can put all three aspects of the game together on the road next weekend."
