HOBBS, NM---The Lady Mustang Soccer program sent their seniors out with a victory in their final regular season home game of the season. Sophomore
Kimberly Nevarez netted a late goal to give the Mustangs the lead with 15 minutes left in the match and never looked back. The victory pushes the Lady Mustangs into 2nd place in the conference right behind Houston-Victoria, whom the Lady Mustangs tied with on Thursday afternoon 0-0. USW's 4-0-1 record will be put to the test as the remaining 4 games on their schedule are all on the road.
Head Coach
D'Angelo Garcia was very happy with Saturday's match and their match on Thursday. " It was one of those games. You have to show up and show out. OLLU is very talented and to beat them for the second time in program history, it speaks for itself. Everyone fought hard especially toward the end. We had players stepping up toward the end."
Garcia knows that the upcoming few weeks are going to be crucial for his team to keep their heads on straight and remain focused. "I think we need to focus on remaining humble. It doesn't get any easier from hear on out. Playing the top two teams in the conference lets us know that we can compete with anyone. Going on the road we have to bring that confidence and strive to get better every day."
The Lady Mustangs honored 4 seniors on Saturday:
Karla Parra,

Kristina Contratto and Jessica Cortez. "I was so happy to send them out on a victory." said Head Coach
D'Angelo Garcia.
