The USW Track and Field Program competed in their final regular season indoor meet of the 2019 season on Friday. The Mustangs traveled to Lubbock for the third time this season to compete in the 2019 Matador Qualifier. This is USW's 5
th indoor meet of the season and last chance to qualify for the 2019 NAIA Indoor Nationals in Brookings, South Dakota.
The Mustangs broke 6 school records on Friday and 1 on Sunday at the El Paso Half-Marathon.
NEW SCHOOL RECORDS
Melvin Flax continued his strong indoor season as he placed 2
nd in the Men's Shot-Put Final with a career best and school record throw of 17.44 meters. Melvin also finished 2
nd in the Men's Weight Throw Final with a throw of 16.49 meters.
Edit Herrera broke her own Women's Indoor Mile record with a time of 5:45.39 which put her in 7
th place in the Women's Mile Final.
Senior
Gilbert Ramirez set a new school record in the Men's Indoor 800m with a time of 1:55.98. This was good for 3
rd place in the Men's 800m Final.
