SHREVEPORT, LA---The Women's Basketball program started their final road trip of the regular season Thursday afternoon as they traveled to Shreveport to take on the LSU-S Lady Pilots. LSU-S came into Thursday's contest with a 12-4 record in conference and 19-7 overall. The Lady Mustangs fought hard for 40 minutes, but ultimately came up short 85-63. The loss brings USW's conference record to 5-12 with 1 game to play and sitting outside the 6th seed for the conference tournament.
"We played tough" said Head Coach
Devonte Brewer. " 7 ties, 4 lead changes, we made them work, and we controlled the tempo for 75% of the game. We played with a lot of passion and heart, we just ran out of gas at the end. We're hungry and looking forward to our regular season finale on Saturday. We played them tough the first time at home, we're going to fight hard."
The Lady Mustangs with only 7 active players for Thursday's matchup, ran out of the gas in the 2nd half of the ballgame. USW went into the locker room at half time up 32-31, but were unable to keep pace with the Lady Pilots in the 2nd half. LSU-S outscored USW 54-31 in the 2nd half.

Jazmin Rios had 14 points,
Isabel Rodriguez had 12 points & 10 rebounds and
Rhianna Bortoli scored 11 points. The Lady Mustangs only shot 38.6% from the field and were outrebounded 47-36 in favor of LSU-S.
The Lady Mustangs take on LSU-Alexandria on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale. Sitting 1 game behind Jarvis for the final playoff spot, the Lady Mustangs need to defeat LSU-A and have Jarvis lose to Wiley for USW to slide into the 6th and final tournament spot.
