ALEXANDRIA, LA---With the Lady Mustangs needing a victory to get into the RRAC tournament, USW faced off with national ranked LSU-Alexandria on Saturday afternoon. Despite a 36-point 4th quarter, the Lady Mustangs dropped their season finale by the score of 93-84. Their final loss brings the season record to 8-19 overall and 5-13 in conference play, 1 game short of a tournament berth.
Rhianna Bortoli finished the season with a monster game on the scoring end as she had 30 points on 11-19 shooting including 5 three-pointers and 6 rebounds.
Shanyce Cabrales scored a career-high 17 points on 6-13 shooting including 5-10 from the 3PT line. Cabrales also had 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in 28 minutes of play.
Harlei Haceesa scored 15 points in 32 minutes of play. The junior forward had 8 rebounds and 5 assists while shooting 7-15 from the field.
Isabel Rodriguez finished her outstanding season with 14 points on 5-11 shooting. Rodriguez was 1 rebound short of a double-double.
Despite falling short of the tournament, the Lady Mustangs had a successful season under first year Head Coach
Devonte Brewer. The 5 wins in conference and 8 overall match last season's win total. Before that the Mustangs hadn't won 5 conference games since the 2011-2012 season.
