KANSAS CITY, MO---The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its 22 honorees in addition to over 10,000 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and over 2,000 NAIA Scholar Teams as a part of its annual NAIA National Awards Day on Tuesday. The day recognizes the association's highest individual honors and achievements of NAIA student-athletes, administrators and coaches.
The University of the Southwest saw 38 Mustang Student-Athletes land themselves on the list. The Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete program recognizes excellence in the classroom for those NAIA student-athletes who are juniors or seniors with an academic standing of a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.

USW also landed 15 programs on the NAIA Scholar Team which recognizes programs who earned a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
