VICTORIA, TX---The Mustang Soccer program took on University of Houston-Victoria to start their 2021 spring RRAC season on Thursday afternoon. The host Jaguars scored three goals and shutout the visiting Mustangs. 

"Overall today was just minor errors that cost us the game. We said it earlier in the week, that we would have to work on set pieces or we will get punished. And that is exactly what happened. All three goals came from some sort of mistake that we made as a team." said Head Coach Edgar Negrete. 

The Mustangs were only able to muster up 1 shot on goal for the match and allowed 6 defensively. UHV got the scoring started in the 9th minute and then would add on another goal in the 23rd minute to head to halftime up 2-0. Shortly into the 2nd half, UHV would score their third goal of the game via a penalty kick. 

USW is back in action this Saturday against RRAC rival Our Lady of the Lake University. " I think we have showed moments of brilliance early on" said Head Coach Edgar Negrete. "But we have just not been consistent enough. We are missing some pieces to our starting lineup and Saturday we will officially have our entire starting lineup. These last two games errors have cost us and until we fix these errors, we will continue to get the same results.
