OKLAHOMA CITY, OK---The Mustangs got back in the winning column on Tuesday afternoon after sweeping a doubleheader from Mid-America Christian University. USW got a pair of brilliant pitching performances from two freshman as they outscored the Evangels 15-1 in the two games. USW's record now sits at 13-21 on the season.
GAME 1
USW 6---MACU 1
Drake Denning took the ball for the Mustangs on the mound for his very first collegiate start. The starter did not disappoint as he went 6 innings allowing only 1 run and 5 hits.
MACU took an early 1-0 lead after the bottom of the 3rd, which would be their only lead of the doubleheader. It didn't last long as USW scored three runs in the top of the 4th coming from the long ball.
Bobby Galindo and
Caden Ledbetter both blasted balls over the right-field fence to put the Mustangs up 3-1. USW would add on 1 run in the top of the 5th, 6th and 7th innings.

GAME 2

The Mustangs started another freshman in Game 2 as
Jonathan Gamboa made his second consecutive Tuesday start for USW. Gamboa last 5 innings scattering 3 hits, 5 walks while striking out 2 and allowing 0 runs.
Victor Maldonado and
Angel Rios each threw an inning in relief to preserve the shutout for USW.
USW capitalized on a big 3rd inning with 6 runs. 11 batters came to the plate in the inning.
Tariq Levesque had a big day as he was 2-3 with 2 runs, 4 RBI and a towering 2-run home run in the top of the 6th inning.
Ismael Brenes and Jose Chavez also had 2 hits in the contest and Chavez drove in 2 runs in the game.
