The University of the Southwest Women's soccer team finished up their two-game road trip in Prescott, Arizona against (RV) Embry Riddle on Saturday. They lost the contest by the score of 7-1, with a lightning delay halting the contest at one point. The contest came after a hard-fought battle against Ottawa (AZ), who was also receiving votes, on Thursday night. They lost that contest 3-1 and saw senior
Lauren Zarate get hurt during the contest. She was unable to play in the contest against Embry-Riddle. The match dropped the Lady Mustangs to 0-2 to start the year.

The contest against Embry-Riddle saw the Lady Mustangs get outshot 22 to 8. The two freshman goalkeepers for the Mustangs had their hands full in the contest. Freshman
Kristina Simpson started the contest and played the first half. Fellow freshman
Emileigh Lara played the second half, getting her first taste of regular-season action.
Jennifer Schroeder and
Karen Eliserio both put shots on goal in the contest, and Schroeder notched her eighth career goal and first of the season.Â

The Lady Mustangs will be back in action at Wayland Baptist on Friday, September 3
rd. They will be looking to notch their first win of the season after a year in which they went 7-5 and made it to the RRAC Tournament semi-finals.
