The University of the Southwest Men's Basketball traveled to Texas to face off against two more conference opponents. Thursday's matchup came against the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs, while Saturday would see the Mustangs take on the Texas College Steer. The Mustangs would eventually lose both contests on the trip.

Jarvis Christian
Â
Southwest (9-13, 5-10 RRAC) and the Bulldogs (7-12, 5-10 RRAC) played an exhilarating game the last time they faced each other, as the Mustangs won in double overtime 116-111. This matchup proved to be something of a revenge game as Jarvis came out motivated to defend their home court.Â
Â
The first half was a very back-and-forth battle the whole way, and it would end with the Mustangs trailing the Bulldogs by 5 points, 30-35. Â
Â
The second half saw the Mustangs with a very late push to try and extend the game to OT for the second time against Jarvis but would come up just short, even after outscoring in the half, and drop the game 68-72.
Â
Junior
Miles Macadory found a way to come off the bench and provide for the Mustang offense with a season-high 30-point outing, as he would also be tied for the team-high seven rebounds. Junior Jahvonta scored 16 points on the day, and Grad Student
Dominique Bradley added 12 points of his own.
Â
Texas College
Â
Southwest (9-14, 5-11 RRAC) would face off in another revenge game for the opponent as they beat the Steer (8-11, 5-10 RRAC) last time they played 85-71.Â
Â
The Mustangs were aiming to end their losing streak as Texas College were on a 2-8 run in their last ten games. USW played a first half as if that was going to be the case with a strong showing in the first half offensively, allowing them to go into the break leading 41-38.Â
Â
Texas College would answer back in the second half. The Steer found a way to turn the game on its head as they scored 40 points in the second half to complete their comeback and stun the Mustangs with a 73-78 win.Â
Senior
Tre Thomas led the Mustangs with a 16-point total as one of four starters to score in double digits. Grad Student
Jamell Bradley would go perfect from the free throw line as he also chipped in 12 points.
Jahvonta Jones and Dominque Bradley added 11 and 10 points, respectively.Â
The Mustangs will be back in Hobbs for the final time this season as they host LSUS on Thursday, February 9
th, and then Saturday, February 11
