In a thrilling match on October 24, 2024, Southwest secured a dominant 5-2 victory over Texas College, marking their fourth win of the season. The game, held in Hobbs, New Mexico, saw standout performances from both teams, but Southwest's offensive firepower ultimately overwhelmed their opponents.
Southwest came out strong, scoring two goals in the first half. The first goal was netted at the 29:03 mark by Natalie Cano, with an assist from Hannah Davila. Brooke Thatcher extended the lead just before halftime at 42:36, assisted by Rozlynn Ramsey, setting the score at 2-0.
Texas College fought back in the second half, with Leila Barco and Fatima Okif both scoring unassisted goals within two minutes of each other, bringing the score to 3-2 and injecting excitement into the match.
However, Southwest regained control, with Rozlynn Ramsey sealing the victory with two late goals at 75:51 and 88:39, both assisted by Kristina Simpson and Sarai Ocon, respectively.
Southwest outshot Texas College by a wide margin, with 43 total shots to Texas College's 6. Texas College goalkeeper Katherine Salas put in a valiant effort, making 11 saves, but Southwest's relentless attack proved too much.
With this victory, Southwest improved their record to 4-8-2, while Texas College remains winless at 0-11-0.
