Southwest delivered a commanding performance to defeat Our Lady of the Lake 99-88 in an electrifying matchup.
From the opening tip, Southwest demonstrated their offensive firepower, closing the first half with a narrow 47-42 lead. They maintained their dominance in the second half, outscoring the visitors 52-46 to seal the victory.
James Evans was a standout for Southwest, showcasing a perfect performance at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6, and contributing 17 points. Jalen McAfee Marion also shone brightly, scoring 17 points and grabbing five rebounds while maintaining a high shooting efficiency.
Antony Scott added 16 points, sinking two three-pointers, while Jacob Koontz chipped in with 17 points and five rebounds, further solidifying Southwest's inside game. The team's free-throw shooting was exceptional, hitting 84.2% (32 of 38) from the stripe, a key factor in their win.
Southwest's balanced attack was complemented by their defensive efforts, forcing 20 turnovers while managing 11 steals. Despite an evenly matched rebounding battle at 31 apiece, Southwest capitalized on their opportunities at critical moments.
For Our Lady of the Lake, Trey Law led the scoring with 21 points, followed by Breion Powell with 18. However, their struggles from beyond the arc (25.0%) and turnovers hindered their ability to keep pace with Southwest's relentless offense.
