GOODWELL, Okla. -- The Southwest Mustangs delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon at Anchor D Arena for the No Man's Land Classic, defeating Southwestern Christian University 78–67 to improve to 3–1 on the season.
Led by EJay Scroggins, who posted a game-high 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, the Mustangs controlled the pace from start to finish. Scroggins' relentless energy on both ends of the floor helped Southwest pull away in the second half, where they outscored SCU 42–33.
Jalen Williams added 17 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting, while Donovan Holcombe anchored the paint with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Southwest's balanced attack saw contributions from across the roster, including Steven Masini, who came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 7 boards.
The Mustangs shot a season-best 51.6% from the field, including a scorching 57.6% in the second half. Their defensive intensity forced 11 turnovers, converting them into 15 points, and they dominated the glass with a 44–35 rebounding edge.
Southwest's interior presence was undeniable, racking up 50 points in the paint compared to SCU's 26. The Mustangs also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 13 points off offensive rebounds.
Despite a late surge from SCU's Elijah Garcia and JaColby Williams, Southwest maintained composure and closed the game strong, with Scroggins sealing the win with a late layup.
Southwest will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup at Nelson University on November 14.
