Lady Mustangs Drop First Conference Road Match at LSUA

ALEXANDRIA, La. -- The University of the Southwest women's soccer team closed out its first Red River Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday afternoon, falling 7-0 to LSU Alexandria at Generals Soccer Field. 

The Lady Mustangs battled throughout the match, with goalkeepers Elena Moya and Genesis Davila combining for eight saves against a high-powered Generals offense. Moya started the match and recorded four saves in the first half, while Davila added four more in relief during the second. 

On the offensive side, Southwest logged six shots, two of which were on goal. Joanna Estrada and Jadyn Duran led the attack with one shot on target each, while Estrada also earned a corner kick opportunity in the first half. 

LSU Alexandria opened the scoring in the 10th minute and added two more goals before halftime. The Generals continued their momentum in the second half, scoring four additional goals to seal the win. 

Southwest earned two corner kicks and committed five fouls, while LSU Alexandria tallied seven corners and nine fouls. 

With the loss, Southwest moves to 0-7-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play. The Lady Mustangs return to action on September 27 for its second conference matchup of the season at Xavier. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. (CT).
