ALEXANDRIA, La. -- The University of the Southwest men's basketball fell on the road Thursday night at LSU Alexandria, dropping an 86–55 decision at The Fort. Despite a competitive start, the Mustangs were unable to keep pace with a hot‑shooting LSUA squad that finished the night above 52% from the field. Southwest moved to 4–13 overall and 1–10 in conference play.

The Mustangs hung tight early, trailing 16–10 before the Generals used a series of threes and second‑chance opportunities to break the game open. LSUA shot 54.8% in the first half and 46.2% from three, pushing their lead to 47–25 at the break. Southwest struggled to match the efficiency, shooting 33.3% in the opening period.

EJay Scroggins led Southwest with 11 points, adding five rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Grant Hickey followed with 14 points on a perfect 6‑for‑6 night at the free‑throw line. Jalen Williams added nine points, while Isaac Warhurst and Rylan Laboca chipped in timely perimeter production off the bench.

Southwest showed resilience to begin the second half, highlighted by a steal and dunk from Scroggins, but LSUA's offense continued its rhythm, shooting 50% after halftime and using depth to maintain a steady lead. The Generals finished with 38 bench points, compared to Southwest's 10, and controlled the glass with a decisive 42–21 rebounding margin.

The Mustangs closed strong with late threes from Hickey and Warhurst, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Southwest shot 87.5% from the free‑throw line—one of its most efficient marks of the season—but could not offset LSUA's shooting and second‑chance scoring.

Southwest heads to Louisiana Christian for its next conference matchup at 2 p.m. (MT)
