HOBBS, NM — The University of the Southwest women's basketball team showed moments of resilience and strong individual performances, but the Mustangs were unable to slow a high‑powered Texas A&M–San Antonio offense on Thursday afternoon, falling 108–55 at home.

The Mustangs were led by Seniya Wilson, who posted a team-high 19 points, adding three assists, five rebounds, and two steals in 35 minutes. Wilson was aggressive from the opening tip and remained the focal point of the Mustang offense throughout the contest.

Karinna Ortiz delivered one of her most efficient games of the season, finishing with 14 points, including two three‑pointers, while also contributing six assists, four steals, and a block, showing her two‑way impact on the floor.

Alliah Scallion added seven points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals, providing steady guard play and defensive activity. Hazel Lord and Macie Werdel chipped in six points each, with Lord adding five rebounds and Werdel sinking two fourth‑quarter threes. 

Southwest battled on the glass and generated defensive stops early in the second half, but Texas A&M–San Antonio capitalized on transition opportunities and second‑chance points, gradually extending its lead. The Mustangs found offensive rhythm in stretches, shooting 36.8% from the field and 72.7% at the free‑throw line, but struggled from long range, finishing 5‑for‑25 from three.

Despite the final margin, Southwest's bench continued to be a bright spot, contributing 22 of the team's 55 points, highlighted by strong minutes from Werdel, Lord, and Gaona. 

The Mustangs will look to regroup as they continue conference play.
