HOBBS, N.M. — The University of the Southwest Lady Mustangs turned in a dominant performance across three games to sweep Jarvis Christian, earning victories of 10–2 and 8–1 on Thursday before closing the series with a 5–1 Senior Day win on Friday.
Game One – Southwest 10, Jarvis Christian 2
Southwest opened the series with an offensive surge, overcoming an early deficit by plating seven runs in the third inning to take control. Elexes Martinez led the Mustangs with a breakout performance, driving in four runs on three hits, including a key two-run double. Kamryn Cantu and Kilee Raulston consistently set the tone at the top of the order, combining to score three runs.
In the circle, Jazmynn Hernandez earned the win, holding Jarvis Christian to just two hits across five innings as Southwest cruised to the series-opening victory.
Game Two – Southwest 8, Jarvis Christian 1
The Lady Mustangs carried their momentum into the second game of the doubleheader, scoring early and often to secure another decisive win. Southwest struck for four runs in the third inning and added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth. Layla Stouder and Yesenia Rodriguez each delivered crucial RBIs, while Hannah Campos continued her strong day at the plate.
Cali Saldana delivered a complete-game effort, allowing just one unearned run while striking out three to anchor the Mustangs' second straight win.
Game Three (Senior Day) – Southwest 5, Jarvis Christian 1
On Senior Day, Southwest delivered a memorable finish, honoring its seniors with a solid all-around performance to complete the sweep. After scoring first in the opening inning, the Mustangs broke the game open with a four-run sixth, highlighted by a three-run home run from Dalaney Utajara. Kamryn Cantu finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Layla Stouder and Hannah Campos each drove in runs.
Alexis Belen earned the win in the circle, pitching 6.2 strong innings before Jazmynn Hernandez closed the game in relief.
