Devonte Brewer enters his 2nd season as the Head Women's Basketball Coach.
In his first season as the Head Coach, the Mustangs produced a 8-19 record and finished 7th in the RRAC. The Lady Mustangs saw 4 student-athletes earn RRAC All-Conference Nominations: Isabel Rodriguez ( 2nd team). Harlei Haceesa (Honorable Mention), Mykal Thomas (Honorable Mention) and Rhianna Bortoli (Honorable Mention).
Academically the Lady Mustangs held a team GPA of 3.19.
He spent the 2018-2019 season as the Men’s Basketball Graduate Assistant under former Men’s Coach Timm Dixon. He also finished the season assisting both the Men and Women programs. He helped both programs in recruiting, game day operations, and game planning. Brewer was promoted to Associate Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program after the season.
Coach Brewer spent the last 4 seasons coaching High School Basketball at Tartan High School in Oakdale, MN. There he helped assist the program to 2 conference titles and 2 section runner-up finishes. He worked under a Minnesota State High School League Hall of Fame Coach in Mark Klingsporn.
Coach Brewer spent 9 years and 3 months with the Minnesota Army National Guard with 1 deployment in 2011-12 to Kuwait and Iraq. During his tenure he was able to graduate from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Mn with a B.S. in Sports Management and Minored in Business Administration and Bible. He also just graduated from USW with his Masters in Science in Education, Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Coach Brewer is the oldest out of 7 siblings and has a 5 year old son, Jayceon Brewer.
